My writing journey with the featured book “A Wolf’s Heart: Love and Vengeance” has not been boring to say the least since I started it in mid-June. It is the most disjointed mess of creativity that has me questioning everything. You see, I plot out my stories usually where I have a good idea how they begin, what's the middle, and where they will end. In some cases, the chapters are pretty much outlined. However, not this one. Nope. No outline. What? No chapters known ahead of time. Can’t be. I have no earthly idea where “A Wolf’s Heart” is going or if I'm in the middle. I am just free writing, and it is AMAZING. I don’t do that with my stories, but it is a liberating experience. Indeed, writing what will be a full-length novel on Inkitt.com is the most fun I have had writing a story in a long time. It also means that editing it is a chore…ugh!
Generally, I am a very organized person. It’s how my brain functions, and usually in compartments. I have a primary job of which I do very well in and make good money. I juggle people skills and analytical ones all day long which is great. Both areas I excel in but only one side of that equation I find taxing. You can guess which one that is.
And then there is the fun side of the compartment… the writing side. Oh, my happy place is writing, where there are lots of compartments for each of the stories I am writing and right now there are a lot. Too many honestly to fit in a day or the time allotted to write, often in the wee hours of the morning when one of these chatty people in my head wake me up demanding I tell all their business.
Right now, there are about six stories I am actively working with the intent of finishing this year. I still don’t know how I’m going to do it. Three of them are on Inkitt.com which have a more dedicated schedule and a small audience. “Brave Hearts” and “Inflamed Again” are being posted about every two days. “A Wolf’s Heart” is really rough and requires more editing time. Those postings on Inkitt will be every weekend.
The last three stories I work on are very different. One will not be published anywhere. It is a fantasy just for me, that I’ve been writing for a very long time. The final installment on the series just needs to reach its conclusion. I do not believe it will have any interest on Inkitt where the popular stories involve alpha wolves, mafia bosses, billionaire CEOs and erotica, so I will not bother posting it. The series of fantasy involve none of that. It would be nice to see these series of stories in a box set someday where I can revisit the characters and setting again.
The other story is a contemporary erotic romance which will be put on Amazon. It is a part of a series that has already been introduced there so that makes since. There is so much more to say about those characters. They are chatting away about me finishing their story, so I’ll have to figure it out soon or go insane.
The last story has suffered a terrible blow. “A Wolf’s Heart” has hijacked, yes, hijacked its time. I was in the middle of it literally when the idea of Zev Xalvadora, a rogue wolf on the run popped into my head after being inspired by some of the other Inkitt authors (@hollows, @jmycenae, @danibrown82) and their paranormal stories I had been reading on Inkitt. The last little story that could is an erotic romance novel that has taken a darker turn than I realized, but it’s almost done. Several pieces of it are missing and like a puzzle I still need to pull the pieces together for the entire picture to make any sense. I may post it on Inkitt after the first draft is done if I ever get back around to finishing it. LOL! So many distractions, yet ultimately that is the real writer’s journey, to actually reach the destination in a completed work. I'll get there... someday.
